Trojan golfer gets second tourney win of week
BENKELMAN, Neb. — Cambridge sophomore Preston Carbaugh captured his second tournament title in four days with his victory at Monday’s Dundy County- Stratton Invitational.
Carbaugh shot 75 on the Benkelman course, five strokes lower than his Cambridge Invite-winning score during a chilly Friday 18-hole event.
Perkins County’s Josh Johnston shot 80 for second place, although he helped his Plainsmen win the team title race by 31 strokes.
Perkins shot 346 with Dundy County-Stratton finishing at 377.
Cambridge took fifth overall among 10 teams with a 415.
Besides Carbaugh, Medicine Valley’s Sid Schultz was the next highest placer as he finished fourth at 85.
Joe Chancellor placed in the top 10 at 88.
The Raiders took third as a team at 381.
DC-S golfer Matthew Lorens (86) completed the top five while Brady Wonderly (87) was seventh overall. Hitchcock County’s Blaine Teeter (88) was another top 10 placer.
The Falcons matched Cambridge’s 415 for fifth overall.
