WICHITA,Kan. — Shirley Ann Christman, 82, passed away on March 10, 2017, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 18, 1935, to Ethel Mae and Loren Brixner in Lebanon, Neb. Shortly afterwards, the family moved to Tremont, Utah, where her dad worked on the Conner Springs Ranch for 3 or 4 years and her mom cooked for the crew. They then moved to Promisory Point at 508 31st St. and then on to Ogden, Utah, where her dad worked on the railroad. After that they moved to Longmont, Colo., where her mom worked at the Savoy Motel and her dad worked on the Timberline. They moved to Elkhart, Kan., to the ranch where her Uncle Carl and Aunt Doris lived; Shirley and her mom lived in town so she could go to school and that is where Shirley learned to play shuffleboard. At 16 Shirley married Leonard Oscar Bloch who was working for Bushman Construction and they lived in Oxford, Neb. Shirley and Leonard lived in Valentine, Glen Elder, Wilson and Ashland while he worked for Bushman. They then moved back to Arapahoe.

Leonard passed away in 1977. Shirley then met Jim Christman and they later married. She spent 25 years with each man when she lost Jim in 2008 and sold their place on their 25th anniversary.

After Jim’s death, she moved to Wichita where she bought a home and resided there until she passed away.

Shirley is survived by her children, Betty Jo Wood (R.D.), Linda Adams (Bobby), Patty Stinson (Tommy), Donald Bloch (Laura) and Jim Bloch (Jeanette); eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends. She will be missed very much and is always in our hearts.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Newspring Church, 12200 E 21st St N, Wichita, Kan., with Pastor Jonathan Hoover presiding.
