Don't trust caller ID

McCOOK, Neb. -- A new telephone scam could fool people into providing banking information to crooks through the use of fake caller IDs.
A McCook man said he received a recorded call purporting to offer a credit restoration service, and his caller ID showed an internal number from a local bank.
Further investigation showed the call was actually from India.
Authorities urge residents to not give out any personal information in response to unsolicited calls, even if the caller ID appears to be legitimate.
