ST. FRANCIS, Kan. --Cheyenne County, Kansas, Sheriff Cody Beeson reports that his officers and those of the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism responded Wednesday to a report of a suspected intruder being shot by a property owner in rural Cheyenne County.

Beeson said in a press release this morning that there were no fatalities at the scene. His office was notified of the incident by the shooter.

The Salina, Kansas, Journal newspaper reported that a Colorado man was flown to a hospital Wednesday morning after being shot by a farmer in northwest Cheyenne County.

Beeson told a Journal reporter that he was unsure of the Colorado man's condition or where he was taken, but as of 3:15 p.m., there were no fatalities.

The main persons involved are adult males, the sheriff told the Salina newspaper. Beeson said the investigation continues, and declined to release any details.
