Oberlin Area Concert band performance here Sunday

McCOOK, Neb. -- The Oberlin Area Concert Band will help to kick-off the Christmas season in McCook with a concert at the Fox Theatre at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The concert will open with selections from their fall concert in Oberlin including excerpts from Dvorak's Symphony No. 5, trumpet and tuba solos with band accompaniment, and a Dixieland combo.

The second half will feature familiar carols in a variety of musical styles.

Now in its 12 year, the Oberlin Area Concert Band, under the direction of Neal Russell, has 27 senior, adult and student members including McCook residents Peggy Everitt, Evie Caldwell, Dian Trail and Sharon Bohling. Also playing are Lori Hilker, Mike Ford, Steve Keene, and Lisa Myers.

The concert is free; however, donations to benefit both the band and the Fox will be accepted.
