BARTLEY, Neb. -- As the curtains closed on Monday's D1-11 subdistrict volleyball action at Southwest High School, one thing became apparent:

Bertrand and Dundy County-Stratton are headed for a rematch Tuesday night.

Both squads won their subdistrict match on Monday, setting up a Tuesday rematch of the Republican Plains Activity Conference championship game played on Oct. 18 in McCook.

Last time, the Tigers won the conference title with a 3-0 sweep over the Vikings.

If Monday was any indicator, however, spectators will see a closer contest Tuesday in Bartley.

Vikings sweep Hitchcock County

Bertrand opened its postseason play with a 25-17, 26-24, 25-15 sweep over Hitchcock County on Monday.

After taking the opening set with a convincing 25-17 win, Bertrand found itself going back-and-forth with the Falcons in Set 2.

Hitchcock County found itself with set point but was unable to clinch the final score needed to win it. The Vikings came back to win the tightly-contested set 26-24.

In the final set, Bertrand put together another solid performance to complete the sweep with a 25-15 Set 3.

The Falcons were led by Brooke Scott's eight kills and 16 digs, while Allison Hoyt added six terminations and eight assists.

Bertrand statistics could not be obtained.

DCS rallies

In the late game, DCS rallied to defeat Medicine Valley 21-25, 25-10, 25-8, 25-19.

Early on, the Raiders put the Tigers on the ropes by winning the first set 25-21. Medicine Valley led by as much as 10 points before a late DCS rally narrowed the gap. However, the Raiders were able to hang on.

DCS played the opening set without senior hitter Aubrey Frederick, who suffered an injury in a triangular last week. After the first set, however, the senior would enter the fray and make an impact.

The Tigers swung back in a big way, winning the second and third sets 25-10 and 25-8. Medicine Valley would play the fourth set close, but ultimately saw its season come to an end with a 25-19 set loss.

Aubrey posted 13 terminations and a match-high .632 hitting percentage, while her sister, Grace, led the Tigers with 18 kills, 14 digs and five ace serves.

Kami Porter and Adalene Krutsinger added 10 and seven kills, respectively, while Allie Behlke and Emily Jones combined for 47 of the team's 49 assists.

Medicine Valley statistics could not be obtained.
