Cool cats run away with RPAC
ARAPAHOE, Neb. -- They were stone cold killers when it came to conquering the Arapahoe Golf Course on a chilly Thursday afternoon.
Shivers should have ran down the spines of anyone trying to catch these Dundy County Tigers.
They didn't just finish 1-2 or sweep the top three places at Thursday's RPAC cross country race featuring eight varsity teams.
No, Dundy County achieved something not seen often in many leagues. Tigers Bailey Peckham, Eli Fink, Gideon Fink and Phillip Boyd finished 1-2-3-4 while dominating the 5,000-meter race on a suddenly "brisk" 45-degree day.
The Tigers nearly achieved a low number that would make any football defense proud, but it looks really bad for cross country foes.
DC-Stratton only tallied 10 points since teammate J.D. Powell gave them five of the league's Top 10 places. They finished 32 points better than Bertrand-Loomis and third- place Alma-Southern Valley was another 31 points behind.
Now that's Dundy domination.
Other area team leaders were Arapahoe's Mykyta Sadok, who placed 23rd (21:30) among 64 varsity racers. Southwest's Joel Costello took 36th (23:22) . Medicine Valley/Eustis-Farnam's Delane Hugunin was 43rd.
Top five teams of eight: 1. Dundy County-Stratton 10, 2. Bertrand-Loomis 452, 3. Alma-Southern Valley 73, 3. Cambridge 73, 5. Arapahoe 86.
