Mother's Log

Mother's Log: Wednesday, during the summer. Woke up at 5:02 a.m., thanks to Hubby's alarm. Woke up again at 5:12 a.m. thanks to Hubby pressing snooze.

Tried to go right back to sleep after he left but instead pondered some life altering thoughts like "should I wash my truck today, but I haven't checked the weather forecast so what if it rains?" and "I wonder that other black softball sock is, I gotta find that by Friday" and other very important questions that need answered before 5:30 a.m. Finally fell back to sleep at some unknown minute and had best dreams I'd had all night.

6:45 a.m. alarm went off and felt worse than I did at 5:12 a.m. Why does that happen? Cause if I don't have to, there ain't no way I'm getting up at 5:12 a.m. but I sure wish I felt as awake. Anyway, schlepped my way down to the kitchen, had my daily bowel of Cheerios, read the local paper and poured myself a cup of coffee. 7:03 a.m., mid cup, the middle girl texts, needs a ride home. Her mobile sister is at conditioning so guess I'm it. Quickly throw on some normal clothes and drive across town. Pick her up and drop her off at open gym. 7:16 a.m. get back home and finish the first cup of coffee and then get around for work. Same makeup, same hairstyle as every other day, throw on easy outfit. 7:43 a.m. start first load of laundry.

8:03 a.m. pull into parking lot at work, remove seatbelt. Middle daughter texts again, "I'm done." Put on seatbelt, pull back out of parking lot, drive across town, drop her off at home. 8:14 a.m. pull back into parking lot and finally get to my office. Proceed to answer emails, schedule events, return calls.

9:42 a.m. youngest girl texts me five times in a row explaining every detail of her loose tooth adding several emojis to each text. Continue to work at my computer. 10:16 a.m. Hubby texts and asks me to come look at paint colors. Rush over, give a nod to the paint colors, notice my shoes are giving me blisters already. Dang it!

10:42 a.m. starting to get hungry, eat a granola bar but secretly wish it was a chocolate donut. Chat with coworker about his recent Hawaiian vacation, secretly wish I was going back to Hawaii, but go back to my desk. 11:34 a.m. realize youngest has a birthday party to attend in the afternoon and also need to feed my dad's dog. Dash out of office, swing by post office on the way to Dad's house, fly into store, grab quick birthday gift.

12:01 p.m. text from middle girl, "we're ready." Drive across town, pick her and her friend up, take home, open fridge to decide what I want for lunch, but suddenly get asked where the youngest girl is? Crap! I totally forgot I needed to pick her up too. 12:12 p.m. send older, mobile daughter to pick up youngest. Oops!

12:21 p.m. Eat leftovers, watch kitchen get destroyed while three teenagers rummage through the cupboards foraging for lunch items, clean up kitchen and start second load of laundry. 12:57 p.m. tell everyone goodbye but quickly reminded by middle daughter that fundraiser pizzas must be picked up at 1:00 p.m. Drive across town, gather pizza orders, run back home, put some in home freezer, run back to work, put rest in work freezers for coworkers.

Work for 2.5 full hours uninterrupted. Finally! 2:46 p.m. text from youngest, needs a ride to friends birthday party cause mobile sister isn't back home yet. Rush home, scoop up youngest, drive back across town, drop her off at party, drive back to work.

4:48 p.m. get home, ship middle girl and Hubby off to softball practice, start third load of laundry, defrost meat for supper. 5:15 p.m. make enchiladas with cheap, off brand enchilada sauce, enchiladas taste awful, let youngest have a bowl of cereal instead, oldest lies to me and claims "they're not bad" and cleans her plate. I don't clean my plate, enchiladas suck. 6:01 p.m. wash my truck, scrape off 45-day-old bug guts.

6:57 p.m. head to church for Wednesday bible class. Realize how tired I am but trying to pay attention cause enjoy being back in church. 8:02 p.m. leave church, oldest daughter needs fuel for her truck, drive to gas station, fuel up and head home. 8:22 p.m. finish cleaning truck windows, put away hose, water flowers, give dogs the leftover sucky enchiladas, which they love, by the way. Thinking I could market those to Purina, and lock up house for the night.

8:56 p.m. finish cleaning kitchen, put little one to bed. 9:22 take a shower. 9:34 eat a snack and catch up with Hubby. 9:53 p.m. craving bedtime, eyes are burning but won't leave big girls up on their own cause I'm a helicopter mom that doesn't trust they'll actually go to bed when I tell them. 10:18 p.m. force big girls to go to bed, brush my teeth, and full on run and dive into my bed barely remembering to shut off the light.

Mother's log: 10:30-ish off to la la land.

Start all over tomorrow.
