The Clever Fox offers tattoos, piercings
McCOOK, Neb. -- Some Texan pride has found itself right here in the prairie. Proud new tattoo studio owners, Adam and Nicki Hajek (Nicki a McCook native) beamed with excitement as they finally got to open their much anticipated new business Tuesday. The studio is called The Clever Fox Tattoo & Body Piercing. It is located at 201 East C Street in McCook, inside of the Professional Building.
"I've always been an artist, even when I was a kid. I was the child constantly in trouble for drawing all over everything, including myself," said Adam. As a teenager he immersed himself into different mediums of art. "I just loved being creative." Adam started getting into tattoos around age 17, when he moved from Dallas, to Sherman, Texas. He started at one of the local studios called Tribal Nation, where he did his apprenticeship. Following that he worked at four different studios in the Grayson County, Texas, area learning things he both liked and disliked about the industry.
In 2010, he began working at Nervosa Tattoo & Body Piercing under his friend and mentor, Brian "Travesty" Davis, and continued to work there for another five years. It was during this time that he really found himself in the art and the industry, where his style really became his own.
As Hajek's two young children grew, he realized Texas was not where he wanted to put down his family's roots. In 2015, Adam and Nicki moved the family to McCook. Hajek says he doesn't specialize in one particular style. "I was taught a master should be able to tattoo in every style." So he has spent his career training in various techniques. He does say that he loves doing organic tattoos such as trees, flowers, animals and nature scenes.
Hours are 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 2 p.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and by appointment only on Sundays. The appointments are rolling in fast, so Adam encourages residents to stop in, check out the shop and meet with TCF Crew.
They will be getting a dedicated shop line soon; however the best way to reach them now is by email at cleverfoxtattoo@gmail.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/cleverfoxtattoo. There will be a first weekend celebration this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. where you can grab a hot dog, chips and a drink while they host tours of the shop and consultations!
