Minimal damage reported around McCook

McCOOK, Neb. -- A severe storm which threatened golfball size hail, extreme wind and prime tornado conditions Thursday evening ended up causing very little damage within McCook city limits, according to city officials.

City workers cleaned up a pair of mature hackberry trees late Thursday evening but received no other reports of damage within city limits.

Roughly half of each tree came down during the storm, one on West 3rd Street and the other on East 4th Street, according to Public Works Director Kyle Potthoff.

"We were able to get them cleaned up by around midnight last night. Other than that, I have not heard of any other damage inside the city limits. Kelley Creek will be flowing pretty heavily for quite some time though," said Potthoff.
