Going-away reception
The Museum of the High Plains in downtown McCook will be the site of a going-away reception for Diana and Duane Tappe, community volunteers who are returning to eastern Nebraska to be closer to children and grandchildren. The Tappes have lived in McCook since 1996, when Duane became the director of Educational Service Unit No. 15 based in Trenton. Duane has since been involved with the Rotary Club and Habitat for Humanity, and has served on the boards of the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce and the High Plains Museum. He was tourism director of the Norris House and a member of the Norris Foundation. He has been involved in the planning of the Marine Corps annual birthday party and Buffalo Commons storytelling festival activities. He has performed in community theater and founded a prostate cancer support group. Diana has taught at the ESU and is involved in PEO. The public is invited to the open house on Saturday, May 7 -- come as you can and go when you must -- between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
