Snowed-in winner
So thanks to the Snow Storm of 2016 that nailed our poor town a week ago, my girls and I were forced to have some bonding time for a few days, which we loved, by the way!
I know there were several other families that were as happy us but you couldn't wipe the smile off our shocked faces. For the first time in forever, it really snowed ... and HARD, and it wasn't another fake out like so many other times. We couldn't believe school was cancelled and could hardly contain our excitement!
We made homemade goodies, big pots of soup and ate all kinds of snacks. We caught up on some movies we'd taped, stayed in our pajamas all day and other than some laundry, did a whole of nothing when it came to cleaning. It was glorious! Hubby had to move snow the whole week so I got some quality time with my chickies.
So that I didn't miss an opportunity to waste that quality time, I told my daughters I'd play Wii games with them if they wanted. We rarely flip on the Wii anymore and if it's on, I'm certainly not home or too busy to play with them.
So when I offered, my younger two jumped at the chance. They were kind enough to ask what I wanted to play and when it comes to Wii, I politely responded that I'll play whatever I can from the couch. It was cold, dreary and I was not interested in a whole lot of exercise and sweat, but I was happy to play Couch Wii with them, no problem!
Well, if I haven't admitted this before, I am sorta of a champion when it comes to Wii. At least against my kids. It really doesn't matter what we play, I usually win. I don't mean to a bully about beating them but for some reason, I just always win. Then they get mad and don't wanna play.
But heaven forbid I let them win, or they just get even more mad. I can't help it if I happen to be the greatest Wii golfer or bowler ever. And that's playing from the COUCH! Boo yah!
And since I'm braggin' about whippin' up on my kids, I will go ahead and say that I'm quite the Guitar Hero as well. Now, I admit, that I have skills for only 3 or 4 strings, but the crowd at the concerts always ask me for an encore and my bandmates bow down to me after my guitar solos. Just sayin ... Plus to add more excitement to my performance, I know all the rock songs from my high school days so I can both play and sing whereas my young children don't know the difference between Axl Rose and Steven Tyler.
Heck, they think Hotel California is slow and boring and the Beatles play songs from the "black and white" days. So, I rock it out and make lots of money for our band on Wii Guitar Hero.
Too bad none of it's real. But for a short moment, while plopped on the couch in my flannel pajama pants, jamming on the plastic Wii guitar beating my kids score by a long mile, I feel like a Rock Star!
Anyway, those days at home were supposed to be mommy and daughter bonding but I'm not sure if you asked my girls if they felt "bonded" with or "defeated" instead. I did thank them for playing with me but I don't remember them thanking me back.
Guess I better ease up on the winning on Wii games and offer to play something that requires more luck next time we're stuck in on a snow day.
Sorry girls!
