McCOOK, Neb. -- Red Willow Aviation is requesting additional space from the city at McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport.
Representatives from the airport's fixed base operator are asking to rent an additional 76 foot by 63 foot concrete slab and expand the slab to 90 foot by 75 foot at their own expense. The additional space will be used for loading purposes, according to city staff.
Red Willow Aviation is in the 11th year of a 20-year lease and the request will require an addendum to the lease agreement with the city. City Council will consider approval of the addendum Monday evening during a regularly scheduled meeting, 6:30 p.m., at the McCook Municipal Center.
The addendum includes a rent increase to proportionately reflect the additional 6,750 square feet of space. The rent amount paid by Red Willow Aviation increases annually and would be modified from $2,690 up to $2,875 for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
Approval of the addendum would not extend the agreement beyond the original term, according to the meeting agenda.
City staff is recommending approval of the addendum and indicated the space is currently being used for additional storage but another location is available to serve that purpose.
