Heritage Days royalty finalists announced
McCOOK, Neb. -- McCook Area Chamber of Commerce officials interviewed six 2015 Heritage Days Royalty finalists and the royalty will be revealed Wednesday at the McCook National Bank mixer.
McCook Community College will present the two individuals who were selected with college scholarships at that event.
Finalists, listed in alphabetical order, are:
Kayla Hughes is the daughter of Byron Hughes and is a senior at McCook High School. Kayla has been a resident of Red Willow County for 17 years. She is active in volleyball, swim team, track and field, Math Club, Computer Club, Art Club, and Future Business Leaders of America. She was selected to be McCook ALA Cornhusker Girls State representative, and elected as county engineer. Kayla also plays violin and piano, and is active in the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Kylie Messersmith is the daughter of Shane and Marla Messersmith, and a senior at McCook High School. She has been a resident of Red Willow County for 17 years. Kylie is active in Dance and in FFA. She is on the Honor and Merit rolls; she has helped set up the fair as well as the Farm & Ranch expo.
Caleb Suda is the son of Colyn and Lisa Suda and is also a senior at McCook High School. He has been a resident of Red Willow County for 13 years. Caleb is active in Math Club, National Honor Society, Computer Club and is Student Council President and has been class president his junior and senior years.
He also participates in football and track and field. Caleb also volunteers in activities in the community such as the bike rodeo, Dr. Seuss reading day, McCook Football League and the Rural Electric Youth Camp.
Tori Tietz is the daughter of Glen and Kim Tietz and is a senior at McCook High School. She has lived in Red Willow County for 16 years. Tori is active in Choir and Math Club. She has received awards such as the Literature, Memorization and Bookworm awards. Tori is on the honor roll and volunteers in her community and church.
Morgan Uerling is the daughter of James and Kathy Uerling and a senior at McCook High School. She has been a resident of Red Willow County for 18 years. She participates in volleyball, tennis, Dance Team, pep and concert bands. Morgan is also active in National Honor Society, Math Club and the school newspaper. Morgan has been on the Honor and Merit Rolls and is active in various community and church activities.
Kalees Urbanek is the daughter of Dona and Jeff Bruns and is a senior at McCook High School. She has been a resident of Red Willow County for 1 year. She has participated in Art Club, volleyball, speech, basketball, track and field, thespians and Student Council. Kalees attends McCook Christian Church and volunteers in the community.
