Money transfer scam reported

Friday, July 31, 2015

The McCook Police Department has received complaints regarding persons being mailed fraudulent demands from a company called TRS Recovery Services Inc. for payment of electronic transfers reportedly made at the McCook Walmart Supercenter. The McCook Walmart Supercenter advised it is not affiliated with TRS Recovery Services Inc. and had no knowledge of the fraudulent transfers.

The McCook Police Department would like to remind everyone not to send money when a business or company demands money for any service or debr that you know or do not believe you owe. Contact law enforcement agencies to make sure these companies are not trying to steal from you. Do not send anyone money without checking to determine if they are thieves.

Always report scam attempts and scams to law enforcement and the Nebraska Attorney General's Office. Even if you discover that a family member has already been victimized, you may save others from having their money stolen.
