Late address change brings probation
McCOOK, Neb. -- A local sex offender was sentenced to probation Monday in Red Willow County District Court for failing to report an address change.
The offender, 25-year-old Jeffrey Scott Adams of 1002 W. Fifth Street, was convicted of a Class IV felony offense for violating sex offender registration requirements and sentenced to 12 months probation.
Adams accepted a plea agreement in May, offered by Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood, which admitted guilt to the felony violation while committing the prosecution to recommend probation at sentencing.
According to law enforcement officials Adams moved from his 210 West 11th Street residence in mid-December of 2014 and didn't update his sex offender registration information until March 23, 2015. When he did report the move he indicated it occurred on March 1, 2015, which investigators found to be false, according to court documents.

Several months later he was again convicted in Red Willow County on a first degree sexual assault charge in February of 2010. As a result of the convictions he a is a lifetime offender subject to sex offender registration requirements.
The requirements include reporting any address, phone number, social media account or vehicle registration change three day prior to the change occurring.
