MILFORD, Neb. -- Kathleen "Kathie" Ann McBride, formerly of McCook, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Sunrise Country Manor in Milford, Nebraska. She was 64 years old.
Kathie was born on March 4, 1951, in Los Angeles, California, to parents, John Jesse and Roberta Lee (Merklin) Thomas. She moved to Wauneta with her family at a young age. She graduated from Wauneta High School in 1969. She continued her education, taking some classes at McCook Community College and graduating from University of Nebraska at Kearney with a bachelor's degree in graphic design.
In December of 1970, she was united in marriage to Harvey George "Bud" McBride in Benkelman, Nebraska. To this union two daughters, Tiffany and Melissa, were born.
Kathie eventually moved to McCook. She became a member and active in the Memorial United Methodist Church and cherished her church family. She loved art and spent hours painting murals, pictures, and portraits. Her masterpiece was the painting of Noah's Ark and all the animals throughout the halls at Memorial United Methodist Church. If she wasn't painting, Kathy loved to read and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Roberta Thomas.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tiffany McBride and Melissa McBride, both of Imperial; two grandchildren, Shanissa Lee McBride of Lincoln and Roper Lane Cochran of Imperial; two brothers, Robert "B.T." Thomas and Rayburn Bischoff and wife, Diane, all of Imperial; numerous family and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in her name.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m., at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2015, 11 a.m., CST at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Doug Griger officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a later time.
