Hamlet, Palisade highway project underway

HAMLET, Neb. -- Paulsen Inc. of Cozad is the prime contractor on a $3.2 million highway improvement project between Hamlet and Palisade, set to begin today.

The project will involve replacing guardrail, patching two bridges, widening the roadway two feet on each side, milling and overlaying the roadway with asphalt.

The two bridges over the Frenchman Creek east of Hamlet will be controlled with lane closures and temporary traffic signals during construction.

Travel through these segments will be restricted to 16-foot widths at the bridges. Travel through this segment will restricted to a 12-foot width during the asphalt construction. Width restrictions will be updated using the Nebraska 511 Traveler Information website (www.511.nebraska.gov)
