Accidents
Saturday, May 2, 3:50 p.m., 1111 West B parking lot -- a sport utility vehicle driven by Kierstyn J. Clark, 22, of 1110 Missouri Avenue and owned by Holli R. Nickerson of 801 E. Third, backed from a parking stall and struck a pickup driven by Russell D. Banzhaf, 57, of 1404 West 10th, that had stopped in the parking lot to allow another vehicle to back up. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $6,000.
Monday, May 4, 5:22 p.m., West 11th and B Streets -- a SUV driven by Linda C. Vaughn, 57, of 209 E. Second, was stopped at a stop sign and backed up into a sports utility vehicle stopped behind her, driven by Chavez Ivon Lizbeth Orosco of 300 West 11th and owned by Jose Montes of 300 West 11th. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $2,000.
Tuesday, May 5, 1:17 p.m., West Seventh and West F -- a vehicle driven by Sam M. Smith, 16, of 1106 E. First, pulled away from the curb and collided with a pickup driven by Caleb A. Sheets, 17, of 1525 Norris Avenue and owned by Paul Sheets of the same address. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $3,500.
2:38 p.m., West U.S. Highway 6 and 34 and U.S. Highway 83 -- a vehicle driven by Twila L. Nelson, 90, of 805 W. First and a van driven by Robert E. Parsons, 75, of 805 W. First, collided. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $2,500.
Thursday, May 7, 12:49 p.m. West C and West Second intersection-- a vehicle driven by Gabrielle Jon Withington, 29, and owned by the City of Atwood and a vehicle driven by Mae J. Donnelly, 89, of 904 East C, collided. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $6,000.
Friday, May 8, 1:50 p.m. 900 block of East Second -- Patricia Mitchum of 904 E.Second, reported damage to the front fender of her vehicle. Estimated damage at $1,000.
Saturday, May 9, 2:34 p.m. East Fifth and D Streets -- a vehicle driven by Kade M. Dike, 17, of 801 E. Third and owned by Robert E. Dike of 104 S. Eighth and a vehicle driven by Chloe E. Dixon, 16, of 2 Parkview Drive and ownd by Linda E. Dixon of the same address, collided. Estimated damage at $3,000 with the Dixon vehicle towed from the scene.
8:02 p.m. 1902 West B -- a vehicle driven by Michael A. Pochop, 49, of 388453 Drive 722 and a pickup driven by Russell L. Niebur, 42, of 71929 Cornhusker Drive, both backed out at the same time and collided. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $1,500.
Tuesday, May 12, 10:49 a.m., 1401 East H, Community Hospital parking lot -- a pickup driven by Francis D. Haag, 90, of Bartley, Nebraska, was traveling through the parking lot when it collided with a vehicle driven by Carolyn Hackney, 67, of Oberlin, Kansas and owned by Rowena A. Cathcart of Oberlin, that was backing from a parking stall. Estimated damage to both vehicles at $175.
County Court
Brett M Poppe, 27, Ayr, Nebraska -- reckless driving, $200 fine, probation 6 months. Conviction stemmed from March 15, 2015, traffic stop at 1:40 a.m. near the intersection of East 14th Street and East B Street. Poppe was arrested and subsequently cited for DUI and driving left of center with Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood pursuing a charge of reckless driving.
Scott H Leach, 40, 509 E. Seventh Street -- DUI (.17), $500 fine, 2 days jail, credit for 1 day already served, probation 12 months, driver's license revoked 1 year.
Gemelo Mario Leon Garcia, 26, York, Nebraska -- criminal impersonation (providing false identifying information to an employer for the purpose of gaining employment), $150 fine.
Tyler L Woolwine, 30, 38961 Road 751 -- DUI (.11), amended to reckless driving, $200 fine, probation 6 months; carrying a concealed weapon, $150 fine, probation 6 months. Conviction stemmed from Jan. 22, 2015, traffic stop at 11:33 p.m. near the 600 block of East B Street and subsequent citation for driving left of center.
Melida Casarez, 40, 518 W. First Street Apt. 10 -- no insurance, $100 fine.
Andrew Christofferson, 24, Culbertson, Nebraska -- DUS, $100 fine; no insurance, $25 fine.
Javier A Casarez, 19, address unavailable -- shoplifting (black powder rifle from Walmart on Aug. 21, 2014), jail 14 days, credit for 4 days already served, restitution $167.
Sky J. Manley, 19, 910 East E Street Apt. H -- shoplifting (April 3, 2015, 1:30 p.m. at Walmart), $150 fine.
Nicholas L. Murray, 25, 1106 West F Street -- possession of marijuana, $300 fine.
Dusty J Mason, 39, 1504 West 10th Street -- dog at large, $50 fine; no rabies tag, dismissed by City Attorney Nate Mustion.
