Anna Mae Vandervort

OMAHA, Neb. -- Anna Mae Vandervort, age 86, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society in Omaha.

Anna was born Sept. 7, 1928, to John and Carrie Mae (Meissner) Brumgard in McCook, Nebraska. She graduated from McCook High School in 1947.

On Jan. 15, 1950, she married Kenneth R. Vandervort in Omaha.

She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church.

She worked as a sales clerk for Brandeis and Younkers. Following her retirement from Younkers, she worked part time at the Benson Community Center from 1987 -- 1998. In her free time, she enjoyed line and square dancing, reading, word search puzzles and going to her grandson's and great-grandson's baseball games.

Survivors include her son, Steve Vandervort and wife, Denise of Papillion, Nebraska; sister, June Donnelly of McCook; two grandchildren, Scott (Meghan) Vandervort and their children, Brayden and Kyler of Millard, Nebraska; Tim (Kate) Vandervort and their children, Easton and Cecilia of Omaha, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and sister, Alma Powell.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 1 to 8 p.m. Family will greet visitators from 5 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 21, 2015, 11 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
