SELDEN, Kan. -- Richard F. "Dick" Pauls, 89, died Saturday (May 16, 2015), at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, Kansas.
He was born April 5, 1926, in Leoville, Kansas, to Peter D. and Margaret A. (Duesberg) Pauls. He was raised in Leoville. He graduated from Selden Rural High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Elizabeth Betty Schlageck on Nov. 25, 1948, in Selden. He was the former owner of Pauls Furniture Store and Pauls Funeral Home.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, Peter and Margaret (Duesberg) Pauls; wife, Betty Pauls; son, Jeffrey Pauls; brother, Martin Pauls; and six sisters, Eulalia Berls, Juletta Boultinghouse, Amelia Sulzman, Pauline Grace, Etta Marie Sulzman and Lavina Rogers.
Survivors include his children, Rick and wife, Dori of Oberlin, Margaret (Boyd) Wilson of Oberlin, Janella (Daniel) Benoit of Hill City and Jaclyn (Daniel) Schreiner of WaKeeney; brothers-in-law, Leo Grace of Midland, Texas, and Louie Boultinghouse of Garden City; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, May 22, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden. Interment is at the Selden Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home in Selden and from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at the church in Selden. Memorials may be given in his name.
