OBERLIN, Kan. -- Ray D. Kennedy, 78, died Tuesday (April 28, 2015), at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

He was born Jan. 12, 1937, in Oberlin to Edgar and Mabel (Colwell) Kennedy. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1955 and from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, with a degree in civil engineering.

He served in the U.S. Army. He was an engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation and spent most of his life in the Kansas City area.

He is survived by nephews, Mike Bailey of Jennings, Kansas, and Mark Kennedy of Boise, Idaho; and nieces, Marcia Croft of Grand Junction, Colorado and Debbie Kennedy of Boise.

Services are Thursday, May 7, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Judi Stricker officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

There is no visitation.
