SIDNEY, NEB. -- Dana D. Hlavinka, age 44, of Sidney passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015.
Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating. Services will conclude at the church. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation has been held. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel in Sidney on Wednesday to sign Dana's register book and leave condolences for the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zoey and Liam Hlavinka Benefit Fund in care of Security First Bank, POB 137, Sidney, NE 69162.

Dana Hlavinka was born on Nov. 18, 1970, to David and Mary Ann (Grim) Hlavinka in St. Paul, Nebraska. He attended Cambridge High School, McCook Community College and earned his bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He worked as a registered nurse at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney and Bryan LGH in Lincoln. He went on to earn his master's degree to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist and provided anesthesia care at Sidney Regional Medical Center. Dana also served in the Nebraska Army National Guard, giving him opportunity to provide nursing care to burn patients and neonatal intensive care patients. He enjoyed spending time with his family camping, fishing and watching Husker football.
Dana is survived by his wife, Leasa Hlavinka of Sidney; sons, Michael Hlavinka of Kearney, Nebraska and Liam Hlavinka and daughter, Zoey Hlavinka of Sidney; his parents, David Hlavinka (Clara Mae Hlavinka) of Custer, South Dakota, and Mary Ann Hlavinka of McCook, Nebraska; sister, Denise Wiese (Travis Wiese); and three nieces, Taylor, Riley and Laken of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; half-sister, Amy Mueller of Littleton, Colorado; and grandmother, Mary Hlavinka of Littleton. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
Dana was preceded in death by grandfather, Edward Hlavinka and grandparents, Melvin and Polly Grim.
