Evlyn E. Roth

McCOOK, Neb. -- Evlyn E. Roth, age 93, passed away at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook on March 25, 2015.

Services will be 11 a.m. on April 18, 2015, at First Congregational Church of McCook with Pastor Steve Bales officiating. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook.

She was born on April 14, 1921, in Edgar, Nebraska, to Guy and Myrtle (Hudson) Conrad. On April 13, 1940, she married Ruben Roth in Norton, Kansas. The couple made their home in McCook, where they worked at the U & R Grocery Store. Later, they moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska, where they worked at Wagner's Grocery. Upon retirement they moved back to McCook in 1982.

Evlyn loved to play cards with the grandchildren. She and Ruben were know to be excellent fisherman. Evlyn was a member of the VFW of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of McCook.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Harold, Claude, Ezra and Carl; one sister, Ella Mae Niemeyer; and two half brothers, Marion Walburn and Virgil Walburn, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Lillian and husband, Ron Stuhmer of McCook and Connie and husband, Larry Newman of Fort Collins, Colorado; son, Ruben G. of Longmont, Colorado; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
