OBERLIN, Kan. -- Joan Faye Evans, 69, died Sunday (March 1, 2015), at Decatur County Good Samaritan Center in Oberlin.

She was born July 30, 1945, in Grant, Nebraska, to Wayne and Rowena (Mitchell) Hoover. She grew up in Phoeniz, Arizona, until she was 12 years old, then moved to Madrid, Nebraska. She graduated from high school in Madrid in 1964.

She moved to Lenora, Kansas, in 1981, then moved to Oberlin in 1994.

She was an Avon representative. She was a member of Oberlin United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Hoover and Rowena (Mitchell) Hoover.

Survivors include her children, Chad Evans of Hastings, Nebraska, and Kristy Evans of Oberlin; and sister, Carol Buchanan and husband, John of Ogallala, Nebraska.

Services are Saturday, March 7, 2015, 11 a.m. at Oberlin United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Burkardt officiating. Memorials may be given in her name.
