SELDEN, Kan. -- Elizabeth "Betty" Pauls, 83, died Friday (Feb. 13, 2015), at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

She was born July 28, 1931, in Selden to Herman and Ellen Kathryn (Huber) Schlageck, Sr. She graduated from Selden rural high school in 1948. She married Richard F. "Dick" Pauls Nov. 25, 1948, in Selden.

She formerly owned Pauls Furniture Store in Selden and Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin, Kansas, and Selden.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary, all of Selden.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Pauls; parents, Herman and Kathryn (Huber) Schlageck; siblings, J. B. Schlageck and Mary Ellen Smith; brother-in-law, Larry Smith; and nephew, Mike Schlageck.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Pauls of WaKeeney, Kansas; children, Rick and wife, Dori Pauls of Oberlin, Margaret and husband, Boyd Wilson of Oberlin, Janella and husband, Daniel Benoit of Hill City and Jaclyn and husband, Daniel Schreiner of WaKeeney; brother, Herman Jr. and wife, Annabelle; sister-in-law, Marcia Schlageck of Colby; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Selden with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Interment is at the Selden Cemetery.

Vigil service is today at 7 p.m. at the church in Selden. Visitation is today until 5 p.m. at the funeral home in Selden and until 8 p.m. at the church in Selden.

Memorials may be given in her name.
