CULBERTSON, Neb. -- Robert D. Strong, age 79, passed away Feb. 9, 2015, at the Grand Island Veteran's Home.

He was born in Red Cloud, Nebraska, on April 11, 1935, to Joseph and Dorothy (Powers) Strong. He attended school in Culbertson, graduating from Culbertson High School in 1954. Robert continued to be a true Bear all his life.

After high school, Robert joined the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1955 until he retired in 1975. He was united in marriage to Hope Herman in Culbertson on May 23, 1958.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Norma Neimeier; and in-laws, Conrad and Lillian Herman.

He is survived by his wife, Hope of Culbertson; sons, Jon of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeff of Culbertson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Jean Beidick and Bill and Eleanor Herman.

Graveside inurnment will be Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Culbertson Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Military honors will be at the graveside with the Culbertson American Legion Post and the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard.
