OBERLIN, Kan. -- Betty Jones, 83, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2015), at Decatur Health Systems in Oberlin.

She was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Herndon, Kansas, to Edward and Elizabeth (Leitner) Portschi. She grew up on a farm south of Herndon.

She graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1949.

She married Dwayne Jones on June 17, 1956, in Herndon.

She was member of United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, P. E. O., and Red Hatters.

She was preceded in death by husband, Dwayne Jones; parents, Edward and Elizabeth (Leitner) Portschi; and brother, Eldon Portschi.

Survivors include children, Todd Jones of Topeka, Tonya and husband, Eugene Tally of Oberlin and Tina Jones of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Anita and husband, Gene Bertrand of Oakley; sister-in-law, Shirley and husband, Don Carlisle of Dewey, Arizona; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services are Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Kevin Burkhardt officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m until time of service.
