OBERLIN, Kan. -- Glenn F. Martin, 94, died Tuesday (Jan. 20, 2015), at Decatur County Good Samaritan Society in Oberlin.
He was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Admire, Kansas, to Jacob Thiere and Ida May (Hauserman) Martin. He attended Admire High School and Emporia State University. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.
He lived in Strong City, Saffordville, Hamilton, Wamego and Oberlin. He married Dorothy Luker on Dec. 29, 1945 in Athens, Texas. After her death, he married Eunice (Anderson) Olson on Nov. 26, 1989, in Oberlin.
He was the superindent for USD No. 294 in Oberlin from 1967-1986.
He was a member of United Methodist Church in Kansas; Administrators Association, Council of Superintendents, Oberlin; American Legion Post No. 70, Oberlin Lions Club and McCook Elks Lodge No. 1434
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ida May; first wife, Dorothy Martin; and five siblings, Verne Martin, Meryl Mansfield, Constance Booth, Frances Bruce and Mary Pearl Morris.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice of Oberlin; sons, Barry (Mollie) Martin of Olathe and Terry (Connie) Martin of Shawnee, stepson, Randy (Sharon) Olson of Oberlin; daughter, Glenna (Rodney) Copeland of Burlington, Vermont, stepdaughters, Candace (Ken) Rauhut of Garden City and Connie (Bill) Robson of Littleton, Colorado; six grandcildren and five step-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, 2 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Shelly Holle officiating. Interment is at Admire Cemetery in Admire, Kansas, on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at 2 p.m.
Visitation is today until 8 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. until service time, at Pauls Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given in his name to Decatur County Good Samaritan Society, or the CNA training program at the high school.
