HOLDREGE, Neb. -- Funeral services for Jeannette J. Henning will be Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Darren Stroh officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege following the services.

Jeannette June Henning, 77 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at her daughter's home in Holdrege. Jeannette was born June 19, 1937, at Cedar Bluff, Kansas, the fourth of nine children born to Devere E. and Doris I. (McKillip) Larington. She received her primary education from the Burnt Hill School in Frontier County and then attended Red Willow High School, east of McCook, graduating with the Class of 1956.

Following her education, Jeannette was united in marriage to Kent Bennett in 1957 and to this union three children were born: Warren, Carrie and Jeanne. Jeannette held many jobs throughout her life time; she was always concerned about helping provide for her family in any way possible. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in McCook, receptionist for the Clark Hotel in Hastings, Nebraska, and the Gladrags Clothing Store in North Platte as a sales clerk. In the mid 1970s, she was employed by Missouri Valley Construction Company (owned by the Peter Kiewit Company) as a flagger, heavy equipment operator, drove tractors, as well as water and belly dump trucks. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, she was the owner/operator of the Home Service Appliance Store in Chappell, Nebraska. In her retirement years, Jeannette enjoyed selling Luzier Cosmetics.

On Sept. 15, 1984, she was united in marriage to David "Lyle" Henning at Sidney, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Chappell, until moving to Holdrege in 2005 to be near family. While in Holdrege, she attended First Baptist Church. She enjoyed throwing horseshoes in her earlier years, attending garage sales, sewing, dancing, traveling, loved to garden, especially tending to her flower and vegetable garden and most of all the time spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two brothers, Nile Larington and Devere Larington, Jr. in infancy, and son-in-law, Bob Peterson.

Jeannette leaves to mourn her passing her three children, Warren Bennett of Lincoln, Nebraska, Carrie Nelson and her husband, Mark of Holdrege and Jeanne Kindall of Holdrege; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Roeene Frank of Lincoln, Ardis Roche of Phoenix, Arizona, Delores Howell and her husband, Gary of Aurora, Nebraska, and Linda Eppinger and her husband, Tom of Phoenix; two brothers:, Loren Larington of McCook and Dale Larington and his wife, Terry of Ogallala, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is today, Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. A memorial has been established in Jeannette's honor and will be designated at a later date.
