Dale Allacher

OBERLIN Kan. -- Dale Lee Allacher passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2015, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Nebraska, at the age of 77. He was born April 22, 1937, to Ernest and Frieda (Klawonn) Allacher, the third of eight children who were raised on the family farm near Herndon, Kansas. He attended Herndon schools and graduated from Herndon Rural High School in 1955. During his school years, Dale worked for several farmers in the Herndon area.

Following high school, he worked on the Meeker-Driftwood canal system and was drafted into the United States Army. Dale served at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and Fort Benning in Georgia. He was honorably discharged Jan. 31, 1966.

After his active service, Dale worked in construction, including many years working as a carpenter for Goltl Construction Company in Oberlin. In addition, he loved farming and began farming with his brothers, Donald "Jack" and Duane. Following their deaths, he continued to farm and was active in his farming operation until his death.

Dale enjoyed family and friend gatherings and meals and enjoyed the youngsters that he was involved with. He married Alice Roberts Goodrich.

He was on kidney dialysis for several years and entered Hillcrest Nursing Home in March of 2013. Dale was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Herndon and particularly enjoyed the times that church members came to the nursing home and had church with him.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane, Donald and David; and sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Donald Grotelueschen.

The three surviving siblings are Doris (Robert) Schamel, of Stockton, and Deanna Allacher and Dennis Allacher, both of McCook, Nebraska. Dale is mourned by his survivors, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces as well as many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Pastor Keith Reuther officiating. Burial is in the Immanuel Church of Christ Cemetery, Herndon.

Visitation is Tuesday from 1-8 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. until service time.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Immanuel United Church of Christ or Hillcrest Nursing Home Foundation.
