BENKELMAN, Neb. -- Mearl Richard, 91, longtime resident of Benkelman, died Saturday (Dec. 20, 2014), at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern, in 1988; brothers, Vearl and Lawrence; and sisters, Ivagean Vernon and Louise Billington.

Survivors include his children, Alan and wife, Alyce of Omaha, Nebraska, Sharlene Maris and husband, Vern of Penrose, Colorado, Eldon and wife, Leslie of Torrington, Wyoming, and Larry and wife, Patty of Glendale, Arizona; brother, Leonard and wife, Joan of St. Francis, Kansas; sister, Phyllis Whitmore and husband, Don of St. Francis; sisters-in-law, Adele Richard of Benkelman, Esther Schrader and husband Vern of Benkelman and Mary Ola Haines of Caldwell, Idaho; brother-in-law, Hubert Haines of Benkelman; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services are Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, 10:30 a.m. (MT) at United Methodist Church of Benkelman, with the Rev. Sheila Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery, with full military honors.

Visitation is on the morning of the service, beginning at 8:30 a.m. (MT).

Memorials may be given to the Benkelman Senior Center.
