ARKANSAS CITY, Kan, -- Mildred M. Carroll, 93, formerly of Oberlin, Kansas, died Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2014), at Presbyterian Manor in Arkansas City, Kansas.
She was born May 26, 1921, in Deer Trail, Colorado, to William and Lulu (Connell) Davis. She grew up on a farm in Roosevelt Township, Decatur County, Kansas, and attended school in Decatur and Norton County rural schools and Almena High School.
She married James Donovan on Feb. 11, 1956, and Edward Carroll in 1968.
She was a telephone operator with Bell Telephone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lula (Connell) Davis; first husband, James Donovan; infant son, Stephen Donovan; brothers, Clifford, George and Marvin Davis; and sisters, Merle Babb, Merna Wurm and Delphia Nowles.
Survivors include sister, Wava Markmann of Lenexa; sister-in-law, Lorainne Davis of Leavenworth; four nephews and six nieces, 16 great-nephews and -nieces, and many great-great-nephews and nieces.
Services are Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014, 11 a.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin. Interment is at the Norton Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday, 1-8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. on Saturday.
A memorial has been established in her name.
