OBERLIN, Kan. -- Leo M. Weis, 87, died Sunday (Dec. 7, 2014), at Decatur Health Systems.

He was born March 27, 1927, to Michael and Theresa (Ritter) Weis of rural Hoxie, Kansas. He was raised in the Leoville, Kansas, area. He lived in Jennings and Lenora, Kansas, then moved to a farm south of Dresden.

He married Hermine Worth on April 2, 1948, in Park, Kansas. He was a farmer/stockman. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville.

He was preceded in death by parents; son-in-law, Russell Pope; daughters, Charlene Vinquist and Mary Weis; brothers, Ray, Al, Joe, Urban and Bernard Weis; and sisters, Sister Vincentia Weis and Sister Laurann Weis.

Survivors include his wife, Hermine, of Oberlin; four sons, John and wife, Carol of Schoenchen, Michael and wife, Emma of Greeley, Colorado, Leon and wife, Angie of Hoxie, and Brian and wife, Josie of Colby; four daughters, Karen and husband, Martin Yunker of Fountain, Colorado, Cindy Weis of Katy, Texas, Carol and husband, Mark Richmeier of Norton and Linda Pope of Hoxie; brother, Ralph Weis of Dresden; sister, Sister Bernadine Weis of Clyde, Missouri; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren,

Services are Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Interment is at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leoville.

Vigil service is Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, 7 p.m. at the church in Leoville. Visitation is Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Selden and from 6-9 p.m. at the church in Leoville.
