ATWOOD, Kan. -- Everett William Holthus was born on June 21, 1930, on the family farm, eight miles east of Atwood, Kansas, to Ted and Lydia (Dunker) Holthus. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ludell, Kansas. He passed away at Atwood Good Samaritan on Nov. 13, 2014, at the age of 84.
Everett graduated from Atwood High School in 1948. Everett married Norma Dee Porter on March 11, 1951, in Ludell, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Terry William, Gregory Allan and Nancy Jo.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church until it closed in 1966 and then he transferred to Grace Lutheran Church in Atwood, Kansas. He belonged to the Ludell softball team and loved attending all sporting events. He was very active in attending school activities for his children and grandchildren.
Everett was a passionate farmer; farming the land and taking care of his livestock. Everett and Dee resided at their farm for 45 years and moved to Atwood in 1995. He became a resident of Atwood Good Samaritan and remained there until his passing.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, Victor.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Dee; sons, Terry and wife, Leslie of Wahoo, Nebraska, and Greg and wife, Pati of McCook, Nebraska, and daughter, Nancy Taylor and husband, Kenton of Colby, Kansas; five grandchildren, Stacey and Sam Klein of Elkhorn Nebraska, Phil Holthus of Kansas City, Missouri, Jeff Holthus and fiance, Caitlin of McCook, Kimberly Holthus of Elkhorn and Brandon Taylor of Hays, Kansas; two great-granddaughters, Alexis and Kourtney Klein of Elkhorn; sister, Kathy Willcoxon and husband, Sam of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; sister-in-law, Lil Holthus of Aurora, Colorado, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services were Nov. 18, 2014, at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Atwood. Interment was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ludell, Kansas.
