Burglar released after four months in prison
McCOOK, Neb. -- A local burglar sentenced to 18-36 months in state prison in June was released from custody Thursday after serving a little more than four months.
The offender, 26-year-old Jesse L. Morrison, was given credit at sentencing for 128 days already served, approximately four-and-a-half months. Combining his credit with Nebraska's "good time" provisions, which automatically cut his minimum 18 month sentence down to nine months, results in Morrison's release from custody Thursday after less than five months.
Morrison was convicted of Class 3 felony burglary for his role in the 2012 burglary of D & S Hardware in McCook. The crime involved multiple doors being damaged and thieves utilizing the business's forklift to load and make off with a safe.
