HAYS, Kansas -- Eileen A. Witt Kastens, 86, died Sunday, (Oct. 19, 2014), at Via Christi Village in Hays, Kansas.

She was born Nov. 20, 1927, to Anthony Floyd and Mary Versch Hafner in Herndon, Kansas. She graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Herndon in 1946.

She lived in Cedar Bluffs, Oberlin, Ludell, Victoria and Hays, Kansas. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Oberlin.

She was preceded in death by parents, Anthony and Mary Hafner; first husband, Waldeane Witt; daughter, Susan Shopmaker; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include children, Steve Witt of Abilene, Nancy and husband, Robert Chaffin of Hays and Shari and husband, Jeff Hertel of Victoria; brother, Max and wife, Nila Hafner of Oberlin; brother-in-law, Duane Witt of Great Bend, eight grandchildren and 12 great-granchildren,

Services are Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, 11 a.m. with the Rev. Shelly Holle officiating. Interment is at the Oberlin Cemetery.
