ARAPAHOE, Neb. -- Elda Lillian Stillman, 89, of Arapahoe, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 2014) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

She was born to Emil Gustav and Agnes (Marquardt) Bloch on July 5, 1925, on their farm north of Arapahoe.

She supported her family by earning wages working in the beet fields along the Platte River and working at a plant in Oxford, Nebraska, to process chickens and turkeys.

She married Kenneth Stillman on June 6, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Arapahoe. They made their home on a farm northwest of Arapahoe.

She was a member of the church choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe.

In 1989, she and her husband moved from their farm to Arapahoe because of health needs.

Elda was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; parents; and brothers, Harold, Leonard, Walter and Emil Jr.

Survivors include her son, James and wife, Chun-yen Stillman of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Elfrieda Luhman and brother, Edwin Bloch, both of Arapahoe; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren

Funeral services are Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, with Rev. James Moshier officiating. Interment will be at St. Matthew's Cemetery at Arapahoe.

Viewing and visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church.
