Bartley man flees scene, ordered to pay costs
McCOOK, Neb. -- A charge for leaving the scene of an accident, filed against a Bartley man who fled after causing an estimated $3,000 in damage when he hit a parked vehicle at Walmart in May, was dismissed recently in Red Willow County Court.
The man, 80-year-old Douglas L. Gill, struck a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Slaina K. Farr of Curtis, Nebraska, while backing from a parking space at 10:30 a.m. on May 16, 2014.
The impact caused an estimated $3,000 in combined vehicle damage, according to the accident report.
Court documents indicate Farr and another witness received subpoenas pertaining to the incident.
Gill failed to appear for a July 31, 2014, hearing in the case and Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood subsequently dismissed the charge with the condition Gill would pay court costs.
Gill was required to pay $48 in court costs, $20 in witness fees and $37 in Sheriff fees, according to court documents.
