MCCOOK, Neb. -- Lynn Paul Weskamp, age 66, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Lynn was born on July 14, 1948, in McCook, to parents Otto Paul and Virginia Rose (Harris) Weskamp. He was one of two siblings growing up in McCook. Lynn attended school in McCook, graduating with the class of 1966. He participated in 4-H as a youth, and was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Following his high school graduation, Lynn attended McCook Junior College, where he received his associate's degree in business in 1969. In 1971, he earned his bachelor's degree and in 1974, his master's degree, both from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
In addition to farming, Lynn enjoyed his occupation as a pilot, working as a crop duster in Southwest Nebraska. He was also an aircraft mechanic, building airplanes from the frame up. Collecting old windmills and remote control model airplanes were among Lynn's favorite pasttimes. He was an avid sports fan and was a member of Elks Lodge No. 1434.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Virginia Weskamp.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley (James) Nisley of North Platte, Nebraska; niece, Kelli Arbogast of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephew, Daniel Nisley of North Platte, Nebraska; and three great nieces and nephews, Jonathan Arbogast, Autumn Rose Arbogast and Allen James Nisley.
Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, Sept. 20, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Lothar Gilde as Celebrant.
Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery also located in McCook.
