CAMBRIDGE, Neb. -- Donella S. Wheeler, age 63, of Cambridge, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014.

She was born in Norton, Kansas, on Jan. 15, 1951, to Donallee and Ella (Orvis) Wilson. She attended and graduated from Wilsonville High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she began a career as an x-ray technician at many locations, including the VA Medical Center.

On Sept. 22, 1983, Donella married Leo Harney. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1998. Donella enjoyed fishing, golf and she loved her flowers. She returned to Nebraska to be close to family in 2010.

She enjoyed travelling, especially to Council Bluffs and Windover, Nevada, to play slot machines.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Donella is survived by her parents, Donallee and Ella Wilson of Cambridge; three children, Ken and wife, Cindy Harney of St George, Utah, Vicki and husband, Alan Burrow of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Sherrie and husband, Mike Giraux of Atlanta, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Debbi and husband, David Cobb of Cambridge, Nebraska, and Lauri and husband, Bert Jurey of Wilsonville, Nebraska; two brothers, Allen and wife, Connie Wilson of Wilsonville and Wally Wilson of Omaha, Nebraska; and special friend, Debbie Jones of Kearney, Nebraska.

Graveside inurnment will take place at the Wilsonville Cemetery in Wilsonville, Nebraska, on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Keith Theobald officiating. Memorials may be left in her name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Friends may leave on-line condolences at lockenour.com
