McCOOK, Neb. -- The McCook Community Foundation Fund poured out its heartfelt thanks to the community by serving up root beer floats last Thursday.

The event honored donors who helped the Fund meet its $500,000 Commitment to Community fundraising goal 20 months ahead of schedule.

Held in conjunction with McCook National Bank's Hot Summer Nights Concert series, the Youth Change Reaction philanthropy group, which is mentored by MCFF, served root beer floats to concert-goers using Loop Brewing Co. root beer for a free-will donation. Donors who contributed to the campaign received their floats in a MCFF-branded tumbler. The event raised over $500 for Youth Change Reaction, and MCFF will help the young philanthropists find a meaningful project for investing the money.

Doug Skiles, chair of MCFF commented, "We had a perfect evening to celebrate reaching the Commitment to Community Challenge goal. We thank all those who shared our vision of the future for the area and participated in the drive, as well as those who joined us and the YCR for great music and root beer floats. We also want to express our gratitude to McCook National Bank for letting us join their event."
