Axe the fire dog

Axe, the Dalmatian that belongs to the City of McCook, Nebraska, fire department, poses for a photograph that may appear in the 2015 "Cats and Dogs of McCook" calendar, a fund-raiser coordinated by the "Cat Pack" for the McCook Humane Society and Animal Shelter. Cat Pack coordinators Sarah and Chloe Dixon ask that photos be submitted by Monday, Aug. 11. Photos can be mailed to: "The Cats & Dogs of McCook Calendar," 2 Parkview Drive, McCook, Nebraska, 69001; or emailed to superswitch@hushmail.com (attach a JPEG or TIFF photo). Include the pet's name and breed and the owner's name and contact information. The calendars will sell for $5 each during McCook's annual Heritage Days celebration and the arts and crafts festival in Norris Park on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 27 and 28, 2014.
