Marilyn Rogene Shaffer

EDISON, Neb. -- Marilyn Rogene Shaffer, 76, of Edison, Nebraska, died Saturday (Aug. 2, 2014), at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

She was born July 13, 1938, to Abraham and Norma Laverne (Rollstin) Chapman at their home on the Turkey Creek, north of Edison.

She married Robert L. (Bob) Shaffer on Feb. 11, 1955. She worked at Becton Dickinson Company in Holdrege, Nebraska, for nine years, was a custodian and bus driver for the Edison School and drove the bus for Tri-Valley Health Systems until her retirement at age 65.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Edison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents, Abe and Laverne; brother, Gary; son-in-law, Alan Amen; mother and father-in-law, Vernie and Velma Shaffer and brother-in-law, Calvin Shaffer.

Survivors include children, Bonnie and husband, Ike Brown of McCook, Nebraska, Betty Amen of Holdrege, Cindy and husband, Rick Dean of Franklin, Nebraska and Rob and wife, Susan Shaffer of McCook; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and a host of friends

Memorial services are Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at the Edison Christian Church in Edison with the Rev. Kirk Einspahr officiating. Inurnment is at the Edison Cemetery in Edison.

There is no visitation.
