James W. Melton

BEAVER CITY, Neb. -- James W. Melton, age 96, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, died at the Beaver City Manor on Saturday, July 12, 2014.

He was born in Russell Springs, Kansas, to John and May (Wood) Melton.

James was united in marriage to Caroline Roach on Nov. 10, 1939. She preceded him in death on Jan. 24, 2003. James worked 16 years for the Gambles stores as a retail store manager and later as a trouble shooter for the corporation. He was a singer and a minister at the Assembly of God Church in Trayer, Kansas, for a while.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Caroline; sister, Juanita Bunker; and brothers, John and Lester.

He is survived by four nieces, Nelda Waxman, Marilyn Mues, Linda Sandman and Juanita Melton.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel of McCook with Pastor K. C. Harryman officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery of McCook.
