Leta Sophia Emma Brunkhorst

IMPERIAL, Neb. -- Leta Sophia Emma (Keiser) Brunkhorst was born on Sept. 5, 1920, to John and Mary (Haarberg) Keiser in Dundy County, the seventh child of a family of nine children. She was baptized on Oct. 3, 1920, by Pastor Victor Hoffman and confirmed on April 15, 1934, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wauneta with Pastor W.H. Wendling. A lifelong member of St. Paul's, she attended the parochial school. Leta was a fifty-year member of the choir and an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
On Dec. 12, 1942, Leta and Henry Brunkhorst, also of Dundy County, were united in marriage by Pastor W.H. Wendling. They lived on the Brunkhorst family farm until 1954 when they moved to a farm south of Enders. She enjoyed sewing, yard work, and bowling.
Leta passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2014, at the Imperial Manor Nursing Home in Imperial, Nebraska. She was 93 years of age.
Leta was preceded in death by her husband Henry, her parents, one brother in infancy and brothers William, Albert, Raymond, Edwin, and Elmer Keiser, sisters Linda Rietsch and Alma McBride.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Edna Keiser of Enders, Nebraska, and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014, 2:30 p.m. (MT), at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Wauneta, Nebraska, with Pastor Keith Wellman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wauneta.
Memorials have been established to St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Mercy Meals of Southwest Nebraska.
Visitation will be held Friday afternoon, July 11, 2014, 2-6 p.m. (MT), at Liewer Funeral Home, Wauneta, Nebraska.
