LINCOLN, Neb. -- Louis K Gauger, 83, of Lincoln, passed away at the Country House on July 11, 2014.
He was born Dec. 20, 1930, to Ludwig W. and Jeanette M. (Kugler) Gauger in Eustis, Nebraska. He attended school in Eustis, graduating in 1948. Louis was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1952. In 1954, he obtained his Master's Degree of Arts from UNL. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and Gamma Sigma Delta, Honorary Fraternity.
Louis started working for International Harvester after graduation. He lived in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Spokane, Washington and Los Angeles, California. He was then transferred to Manilla, Philippines, for several years and then to Chicago to become overseas credit and collection manager. He traveled "the world" for IH and then retired in 1980 and came back to Eustis to farm the family farm. He loved flying and flew his Cessna many places while living in the states. He was an avid pilot and also built an Aeronca plane. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 167 in Elwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Millhollen and husband, Gale, and brother in-law, Dr. Vern Blank.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Blank of McCook, Nebraska and her children, David Blank and Sharon of Breckenridge, Colorado, Jean Solomon and husband, John and two children, Sam and Jake of Fort Smith, Arkansas; niece, Mary Millhollen; nephews, Gerry Millhollen of Hickory, North Carolina and Jane and Bill Millhollen of Truckee, California, and their children; special cousins, Bruce Mackey of Tampa, Florida, Gwen Ringenberg of Eustis, Nebraska, Barb and Neal Avery of Elm Creek and special friends, Wade Kloepping of Eustis, Bruce Haskell of North Platte, Nebraska, Bill Gibson of Monte Vista, Colorado, and many friends.
Inurnment will be at a later date in Eustis. Memorials may be directed to the Eustis Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association, Lincoln/Greater Plains Chapter, 1500 South 70th Street, Suite 201, Lincoln, NE 68506. No visitation/cremation. Condolences online at Roperandsons.com.
