CAMBRIDGE, Neb.-- Eldora Marie Ellen Rosier Allen, age 92, passed away at Tri Valley Health System in Cambridge Thursday (July 10, 2014), after a short illness.
Born in Wilcox, Nebraska, to Isaac Newton and Nellie Karschner Rosier, Eldora was the youngest child of the family with four older sisters and two older brothers.
When she was an infant, the family moved to the Dry Creek Community northwest of Bartley. Her father passed away suddenly in 1929. Nellie and the children remained on the farm working hard, surviving the Depression and Dust Bowl years.
Eldora married Herbert Allen in 1943 and moved to his family farm on Lime Creek, north of Cambridge. In 1949, the family was forced to move due to Medicine Creek Dam construction. They relocated to a farm five miles northwest of Cambridge.
After raising a family of five, Herbie and Eldora moved into Cambridge in 1971. Herbie passed away in 1996. Eldora moved to Heritage Plaza in 2009 and the Assisted Living Facility in 2013.
Eldora loved quilting, reading, bowling, puzzles, fishing and watching KC Royals baseball. She was active in her church and in community volunteer work.
Eldora will be missed by all who knew her. She was a quiet, kind, unassuming woman, loved by everyone. Her children appreciated their mother for so much. She taught them the importance of reading, the value of hard work and the warmth of love.
Eldora was preceded in death by her husband, Herbie; a grandson, Craig Jackson and siblings, Sylvia Moore, Iva Zeller, Lloyd Rosier, Vernon Rosier, Doris Premer and Dorothy Premer.
