ARAPAHOE, Neb. -- Phyllis Cleora Wendland, 87, died Monday (June 30, 2014), at Christian Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska.

She was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Arapahoe to John and Lillie (Fahnholz) Wieland. She grew up in Arapahoe, where she attended Arapahoe Public Schools. She worked at the C. A. Swanson Plant in Oxford. She worked many years at the Derby Cafe and later she went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 23 years of dedicated service.

She married Theodore "Ted" Wendland on April 7, 1946, at Norton, Kansas. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and the American Legion Auxiliary of Arapahoe.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; infant sister, Darlene; brothers, George and Wilhelm "Bill"; son-in-law, James Wymes; granddaughter, Sara Holloway and grandson, Jackson Egge.

She is survived by children, Jerry Lee Wendland and wife, Sheila of Denver, Colorado, Billy Eugene Wendland and wife, Bonnie of Paxton, Nebraska, Dale Lynn Wendland and wife, Tammie of Overton, Nebraska, Darlene Ruth Wymes of Brunswick, Georgia, and Wanda Irene and husband, Joel "Hank" Pulley of Arapahoe; brother, Myrl Wieland and wife, LaVerna of Oxford, Nebraska; sister, Marlene and husband, Richard Corder of Lincoln, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Viewing and visitation is Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to the service at the church.

Funeral services are Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. James Moshier officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
