Roxanne E. 'Roxie' Arens

Sept. 23, 1970 - June 25, 2014

PAPILLION, Neb. -- Roxanne E. "Roxie" Arens of Papillion, Nebraska, formerly of McCook, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, near McCook as a result of a vehicle accident. She was 43 years old.

Roxie was born on Sept. 23, 1970, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1988. She then attended Chadron State on a volleyball scholarship where she was selected to both the NAIA District 11 and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams. She was inducted into Chadron State's Hall of Fame in 2005 and still holds several records today. She graduated with a degree in business administration in 1992. After graduation, she moved to Lincoln where she met David "Kirk" "Ned" Arens. On June 13, 1998, they were married in McCook, Nebraska. They lived in Hastings, Minnesota, Martins Creek, Pennsylvania, York, Pennsylvania and Columbus, Ohio, before settling in Papillion, Nebraska.

Roxie worked for TransFirst eCommerce Services for the past seven years as a market industry expert and consultant. She was dedicated to her clients and teammates.

Roxie loved her family and friends. She was a diehard Nebraska football fan. Although she loved summers on the lake, Halloween was her all-time favorite holiday. She loved a good road trip, especially if it led her to a volleyball tournament. She made friends easily and always made sure everyone around her had a good time.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Charlie in 2003 and Jackie in 2005.

Survivors include her husband; her three sons, Greyson 14, Tucker, 12 and Cooper, 5; numerous aunts, uncles, family and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions in memory of Roxie may be designated to college scholarships for her three sons. Funds have been established in care of First Central Bank, 904 N. Hwy 83, McCook, NE 69001.

Memorial services were Monday June 30, 2014, 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Father Tom Schultes officiating. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in McCook.
